Vespera is an editorial bridal veil with a French Chantilly lace crown, sewn on entirely by hand. The fabric is 160 cm wide with a clean light ivory tone. It pairs with all bridal looks. The color reads natural and warm. It is not pale or bluish white. It photographs beautifully and feels right in daylight and indoors.

Made from super organza, among the thinnest fabrics in the world, woven from threads about one fifth the width of a human hair. Years of technical development went into stabilising yarn otherwise too fragile to become cloth at all, and it remains the most expensive organza made anywhere by the metre.

The result is a veil that reacts to wind, water, and light, creating fluid motion and soft luminosity with almost no weight.

The lace

Around the crown, Vespera carries fine French Chantilly, one of the most delicate laces still made anywhere. It is light enough to sit on organza this fine without weighing it down, and it frames the face before the organza takes over.

Every centimetre of it is attached by hand. No machine holds lace this fine to fabric this fine. Each veil is finished one at a time in our New Zealand studio.

The name

Vespera was finished on an evening when Venus was sitting right next to the Moon. It was beautiful to look at, and the veil still had no name, so we took one from that sky. Vespera comes from the evening star, which is what Venus is called when it appears after sunset, the brightest thing up there once the Moon is out.

How it is worn

The Chantilly sits on the crown of the head like a headpiece. A short blusher falls forward and covers the face, and the organza falls behind, held in place with discreet pins by your bridal stylist.

Two lengths

1 meter (39.4 inches): the blusher covers the face and the organza falls to the hips.

2 meters (78.7 inches): the same crown and blusher, with the organza falling all the way to the floor.

Finish and edge

Vespera features an intentional raw edge, carefully cut by hand using professional scissors. The fabric shows minimal frilling with normal wear. Over time, light frilling may occur, which can be easily trimmed or refined if needed.

Additional sewn edges would add unnecessary weight and alter the way the fabric moves. Hot scissors are not used, as heat can damage the delicate structure of the fabric.

Care: hand wash only. Dry flat. Do not tumble dry. Steam to refresh, do not iron.

An editorial piece for bridal wear, fashion styling, and cinematic movement.

Details and Care

Fabric: 100% engineered polyester filament, developed and woven in Japan, with a French Chantilly lace crown applied by hand.

Super organza is a technical cloth rather than a substitute for a natural one. The filament is drawn to roughly one fifth the width of a human hair, a fineness no natural fibre survives on the loom, and the mill's real achievement is stabilising it enough to be woven at all. It is then piece-dyed, which is why the ivory reads so evenly across the width.

Made in our studio in New Zealand, to order, in small runs, one bride at a time.

Care: hand wash only. Dry flat. Do not tumble dry. Steam to refresh, do not iron.

Bridal Q&A

How much time do I need before the dress is shipped?

Made-to-Order Gowns
We recommend ordering 6–8 months before your wedding to secure fabrics, reserve your production slot, and allow time for delivery. Production usually takes 3–4 months from when we receive your measurements. Some gowns can be made faster (within 1–2 months), but this isn’t guaranteed—please contact us to confirm availability before ordering.

Ready-to-Wear Gowns
Dispatched within 2–4 weeks, perfect for last-minute brides. These styles are designed for easy alterations. Please allow extra time for shipping, as some pieces may be stored in our international warehouses.

What should I do if I'm losing or gaining weight before the wedding?

If you're on a weight loss or gain journey, you can send us your updated measurements two months before your dress ships. Notify your stylist after securing your dress, and we'll ensure your dress matches your current size before shipping. Our dresses are designed with flexibility in mind and can accommodate up to two sizes. They can also be easily altered by your local seamstress right before the wedding if your body changes.

When should I provide my measurements?

After you place your order, we'll send you a measurement guide and instructions. We recommend having your measurements taken professionally, preferably in centimeters. Since we handcraft each gown in our studio and don't rely on standard sizing, we tailor your dress to your unique measurements to ensure a perfect fit.

Do you offer plus-size options?

Yes, we absolutely do! Our plus-size gowns come with additional customizations to ensure a comfortable and flattering fit. We make sure our dresses can cover a bra strap if needed, so you can wear your preferred undergarments with confidence.

I am not sure if the dress silhouette fits me.

Our studio handcrafts each gown, allowing us to make adjustments to dress elements that can harmonize your overall look. Our experienced seamstresses and pattern makers, with a collective 100 years of bridal experience, can provide suggestions based on various body types. We are able to adjust your body length (which you won't normally be able to request in a regular bridal store) and change the volume of the skirt if you feel like you need less or more to make your body look its best.

Can you handle last-minute weddings with rush orders?

We understand that sometimes weddings happen sooner than expected. Depending on fabric availability and production time slots, we may be able to accommodate rush orders. Please get in touch with us before placing your order if your wedding is less than 3 months away. Our typical rush order fee is $250.

Can I request customizations for my dress?

Absolutely! We're thrilled to accommodate custom orders. Some customizations come at no extra cost. If you have specific changes or a complete dress redesign in mind, please reach out to our stylist for a personalized estimate.

Are orders refundable?

Ready-to-Wear Items: Not sure if it's the right fit? We offer either an exchange or a refund (minus shipping costs both ways) if it doesn't work out.

Veils, Capes, and Robes: Due to hygiene reasons, these items are non-returnable, but rest assured, we ensure every product meets the highest standards before shipping.

If you have fit concerns, consider scheduling a video call to assess how the gown fits your body type. Alterations are possible for all our gowns. Our happy brides are proof that buying a wedding dress online is not as scary as it looks at the beginning.

I want a veil, but I'm not sure which one will match my dress.

Let us know if you'd like a veil to complement your gown. Matching the veil shade to your dress is crucial. We'll make sure to use tulle in the same tone as your gown to ensure a seamless and coordinated look.
